HypnoBirthing Classes & Covid-19
Reducing anxiety during pregnancy and feeling calm about birth and parenthood is more important than ever
In spite of current events...
You will still give birth You still want to feel prepared, confident and well supported You still need a birth-partner with effective birth-support skills You still want to be a great team on your birthing day This is a time to grow your connection and togetherness as a family. That's why HypnoBirthing Nelson is going online for as long as needed, so the couples of Nelson-Tasman can still access positive, stress-reducing antenatal preparation. NOTE: It is likely that the July course will be in person, rather than online) |
The skills you learn in HypnoBirthing will give you relaxation and support techniques for birth. But they will also help to soothe your nervous system in general, over the next few months and after your baby arrives. Feeling as relaxed as possible is important for your growing baby too. We know from the Christchurch earthquakes that reducing in-utero anxiety is helpful. HypnoBirthing gives you the abilities and practises to 'keep calm and carry on'.
Your HypnoBirthing group will still meet every week for 5 weeks online. You will be able to learn, share and relax together with your birth-partner, from the comfort of your own home. The format will likely be a combination of live zoom classes, a google 'classroom' where you can access extra resources, an audio file for relaxation recordings that we will use together during the class and a private Facebook or whats app group.
I, Anna, have experience in working online with people from all over the world as a therapist and I developed an online course in the past. So I am excited to be able to help you feel supported and ready for birth.
Please note, if financial pressures will significantly impact your choice to take part, please contact me directly for information about payment plans and reduced rates.

Q & A about online classes
Will I still get to meet other couples?
Yes. You will be able to see and get to know other Nelson-Tasman HypnoBirthing couples. It is a valuable time to build those important antenatal relationships to support you after baby is born. Lots of people make life-long friends and keep in touch into the future!
How do I prepare for an online class?
Classes involve relaxation time. You will need to be somewhere comfortable, so you and your partner can totally unwind when we use guided practises for relaxation. Couches or yoga mats with lots of pillows and cushions are good. Make sure the light is good, so we can see each other during face-time, but check that you can dim the light when needed. Download zoom onto your device, either as an app or onto your laptop. A bigger screen is useful for seeing all the participants better. You may be asked to pre-read sections of the book or handouts prior to or between classes. We will take a half-time ten-minute break for a cup of tea.
Why is the price the same for online classes?
The content is exactly the same in either format. You are paying for the content, as well as your practitioner's training, experience and registration. This course is particularly designed to:
-Empower you and your birthing partner for birth
-Provide valuable tools and resources
-Get you into a habit of practising and preparing for birth
-Keep you focussed and accountable.
Whether online or in-person these remain the most essential aspects of the course.
