Owen's Birth
'We are proud to announce the safe arrival of Owen! Our beautiful little bundle arrived on Monday at home in the birthing pool.
I did my rainbow relaxation after feeling a bit uncomfortable on Sunday and woke up having contractions which was unbelievable, such a poweful tool.
I went for a walk using my TENS machine and things got stronger.
Alex was working at the time and still getting home. When he got home at 10.30pm I was quite uncomfortable, so we went for another walk.
Then we set the pool up... quite interesting when the pressure is on! I sent Alex to bed as he was exhausted after working all day, but I couldn't manage to sit still myself. I put on my hypnobirthing cd and breathed through my contractions.
By 4am I was was contracting every 1 1/2 minutes so i phoned my midwife. At 6am I was 4 cm dilated and exhausted. I jumped in the pool with Alex and he coached me through my contractions. What an unbelievable man! I cant explain what a huge support he was and how much the hypnobirthing course helped us to connect at such an intense time.
Four hours later after lots of aromatherapy, homeopathics and lots of breathing I was 9cm and wanted to give it up as a bad job!!!!
Thankfully Alex was so positive and reassuring. I managed to progress to fully dilated and pushed for 1&1/2 hours.
I birthed Owen myself straight onto my chest. What a magical moment!
He came out so peacefully and didn't even cry and remains a lovely cruisy baby who loves his booby milk.
We are doing great and managing parenthood well as a team effort even through 4 hours sleep in 3 nights!
I really want to thank Anna for teaching us the techniques to enable us to achieve the beautiful homebirth that I have always dreamed of.
Anna taught us how to connect at such a crucial time, which helped Alex help me.
An added note: I developed gestational diabetes so we didn't think we would be able to have a homebirth, but after a lot of hard work we manged to control my blood sugars and my consultant was happy for me to have a homebirth.
We are over the moon with our little boy.
Love Wendy, Alex and Owen xxx
